2nd Annual Step Up, Speak Out, End Bullying PSA contest
The 2013 theme is BYSTANDER EMPOWERMENT!
Our inspiring quote is “Be the change you want to see in the world” ~ Mahatma Ghandi
The Fund for Civility, Respect and Understanding’s End of Bullying Task Force is excited to announce our 2nd Annual Step Up, Speak Out, End Bullying PSA Contest.
We want to find your creative solutions to bullying and share them with our community and beyond. We are inviting you to take part in our Public Service Announcement contest by creating your own 30-second video PSA with the theme of “BYSTANDER EMPOWERMENT!”
Research on bullying shows that bystanders taking action is one of the keys to end bullying. Direct intervention is not always comfortable for bystanders, but there are many ways that bystanders can make powerful and impactful choices to change a bullying situation.
- Walking away from a situation so as not to be an audience for the bully.
- Letting an adult know about the incident.
- Rallying support from other bystanders to end the encounter can be extremely powerful.
- Direct intervention can also be extremely effective.
- These are only suggestions and we hope to hear more from you.
all information is entered for each and every submission. DO NOT assume that we have your information from a prior upload. This contest is open to submissions from across the globe.
All approved submissions will be included in a montage film at our
Step Up, Speak Out, End Bullying Showcase and Awards Event on April 27th, 2013 10am-Noon at the Loft Cinema.
We will also announce our Runner Up and Grand Prize Winners in each category, and one Radio Ready Selection at this event. Certificates and prizes will be awarded.
We encourage you and your families to attend. It will be FREE, FUN and INSPIRING!
The Grand Prize PSAs in each of three age-based categories will be aired on local television. One “Radio Ready” PSA will air on 94.9 Mix FM (this may be one of the grand prize winners or a different submission.) In addition to television and radio airplay, winners will receive prizes courtesy of Cox Communications.
We encourage you to have fun with this process, to be creative and to choose positive, nonviolent solutions for dealing with this issue. Good luck and thank you for joining us as we continue to strive for the end of bullying.
